Michael Mulkerrin, PhD, Vice President, Process Development

Michael Mulkerrin joins Oncomed having served as Senior Director of Process Sciences in Amgen heading Analytical Biochemistry. Dr. Mulkerrin brings a wealth of experience in development to OncoMed having served in leadership positions in the development of monoclonal antibody projects at Genentech, Abgenix, and Amgen. In addition he led quality control as an interim director for two years at Abgenix. Prior to joining Abgenix Dr. Mulkerrin was a Senior Scientist in Analytical Chemistry in Genentech having joined in 1984 in Protein Chemistry. In the sixteen years at Genentech he served in Protein Chemistry, Biocatalysts, Protein Engineering, and Analytical Chemistry. He has served as CMC team leader at Abgenix for the ABX-IL8 and ABX-MA1 projects and at Genentech for the Raptiva project.

Dr. Mulkerrin received his PhD from the University of Georgia, and BS from University of Massachusetts. He has coauthored more than 30 papers and reviews. In 2005 Dr. Mulkerrin was elected to the USP Biologics and Biotechnology Expert Committee on Proteins and Polysaccharides and chairs the committee for the development of a chapter on Monoclonal Antibody manufacturing and the committee developing the Protein A reference standards.
